General information about model Mamod Minor 2

The mamod minor 2 was introduced in 1939 as a twin cylinder overtype engine. The engine was discontinued in 1940, and now is one of the rarerst mamods around (less than 100 made). In 1948 there was a new version of the minor 2 introduced, this time with a single cylinder. The Minor 2 was discontinued in 1979. The engine basicly is the same as the minor 1, only a bit larger in size.

This mamod minor 2 was produced between 1948 and 1953. It's one of the older types since it has a flat base. I bought this minor for £56 at ebay in august 2006, together with a hammer tool.

The engine was in quite good shape, it only needed a good clean.

After quite a while I finaly gave this nice engine a good clean-up. I decided not to repaint anything because I wanted to preserve the decal and the feet underneath the baseplate. Because the pantwork was looking quite dull, I decided to try and polish it. For polishing I used car polish called "commandant 5". It worked great! the apintwork got a lot better and more shiney, although I don't think you should do something like this too often, because the towe turned orange too.

Besides the paintwork everything else got polished with brasso . The end result:
